Ah, no travel day!  We slept in 'till 5:30.  Got up, cranked up the generator, turned on the coffee maker and the heater - really roughing it.

After a bowl of cereal and some coffee and a couple of miles on the ATV with Rufus, we climbed in the truck and returned to Prairie City.  At the Ranger Station we asked about critters - mountain lions, rattle snakes, black bears.  "But they're more afraid of you than you are of them"  (funny, if I were to come face-to-face with a bear on the trail, I have a hard time picturing pee running down the bears leg!)  They didn't have any Road Use Maps, but suggested we try the station in John Day, where we plan to visit a little later.

We asked about Thrift Stores because you-know-who didn't pack a jacket, and here's the place they told us about ...

Yikes, but not a jacket to be found.  They told us about another Thrift Store where I scored a nice rain-resistant coat for $5 as well as a quilted flannel shirt for $2.50 - nice.  We poked around a couple of knick knack shops, as well as a hardware store going out of business that had everything 75% off!  Man, if we were closer to home I would have filled up the truck.  We did pick up a few things, including some new lights for outside our garage and a $3 bluebird house.

We drove to John Day and visited the Ranger Station, picked up a map.  Then went into town and got a coffee mocha - mmmmm.  They had some cute refrigerator magnets...

Oddly, the coffee shop had a tanning booth in it!

We topped-off the diesel and headed back up to camp.  This is the road sign right across the street from us...

Rufus is a little jacked-up, anticipating going for an ATV run...

Try as I might, I cannot stop him from barking at the ATV when we first start out...

Got back from running the dog and fired up the BBQ.  Hamburgers on homemade Sheepherders bread, with grilled onions & peppers - oh my...

I had a couple of nice motorcycle rides, exploring around.  I didn't find anyplace better to park the trailer than where we are.

Generator run, electric water heater, shower!  We had a nice lazy evening and early to bed.
